projects The exhibition “Scent of Italy: Truffle” to enhance Italian knowledge and traditions abroad.

With the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World kicked off the installation of the project “Scent of Italy: The Truffle,” a traveling exhibition of great cultural value intended for the network of Italian Cultural Institutes, directed and curated by BIA on commission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The exhibition “Scent of Italy: The Truffle” is aimed at telling the story of truffles abroad through an immersive experience that promotes and enhances the truffle, highlighting the biodiversity of truffle territories and landscapes, knowledge and use in Italian cuisine, and increasing awareness of the heritage of knowledge and traditions related to truffle hunting and caving in Italy.

In particular, the exhibition itinerary, through the different sections of the exhibition, recounts:

– the mapping of territories and knowledge: to safeguard and protect truffle habitats and culture.

– the promotion of truffle culture research and dissemination activities: to deepen truffle knowledge and biodiversity protection.

– the development of sustainable tourism: to promote and spread conscious and sustainable forms of tourism, especially among young people.

The exhibition unfolds along a route composed of traditional panels, audiovisual material, augmented reality, and experiential and sensory kits where visitors can learn about the history of truffles, the nine species that can be marketed in Italy, habitats, truffle cultivation, biodiversity, and the recognition of “Truffle Searching and Quarrying” as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

In addition to the stop at the Republic of San Marino, the exhibition was presented in Luxembourg, Dublin, Brazzaville, Hanoi and Bangalore.
