projects BIA collaborates on the project “Expressions of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in small towns: inventory and exploitation”

BIA, together with UNPLI (National Union of Pro Loco of Italy), ICPI (Istituto Centrale per il Patrimonio Immateriale del Ministero della Cultura) and ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities), is participating in the project “Expressions of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in small towns: inventory and exploitation”.

The goal is to safeguard and enhance Italy’s precious local traditions, which are fundamental to preserving our country’s varied cultural identity.

In accordance with UNESCO’s “Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage,” it starts by mapping the expressions of the intangible cultural heritage of small Italian municipalities (up to 5,000 inhabitants).

Thanks to the collaboration with ICPI, ANCI and the vast network of Pro Loco in the area, the rich intangible cultural heritage of our communities will be surveyed, monitored and catalogued. Together with the partners, BIA is developing RadiciCulturali.it, an innovative digital platform that will allow these cultural treasures to be collected, explored and enhanced. The platform will offer an interactive map and advanced search engine to easily explore the catalogue and receive updates on events and discoveries in the field of local traditions.

On 20th March, BIA collaborated on the project’s launch event in Rome at the “Diego Carpitella” Conference Room of the Central Institute for Intangible Heritage.
