news Chiaravalle Concert
On Sunday, December 8, 2024, the now traditional Christmas concert was held at the Abbey of Chiaravalle Milanese, hosted by the Cistercian monastic community in an initiative welcoming the area and the community in preparation for Advent.
Before the concert, a meeting themed Unesco candidacy of the Chiaravalle area took place at the Schuster Hall; speakers for BIA Angelo Boscarino and for Bocconi University Prof. Piergiacomo Mion Dalle Carbonare took the stage to take stock of the path taken so far.
Realized thanks to the patronage of Milan’s Municipality 5 with the collaboration of Grana Padano Foundation and MM spa, the concert was organized by Koinè social cooperative together with the MaMu Cultura Musicale Association and the Gruppo Campanari “I Campanatt,” with the participation of the Milan 5 Youth Orchestra and the MaMu Ensemble Choir and Orchestra.
An important moment of meeting and sharing with the community.
The abbey church hosted three different moments:
The Milan 5 Youth Orchestra with the Second Movement from Symphony No. 94 known as “La Sorpresa” by F. J. Haydn (1732-1809) and the Third from Symphony No. 8 by A. Dvoràk (1841-1904).
The Mamu ensemble choir and orchestra with the Missa Mariazeller by F. J. Haydn (1732-1809), composed in 1782 and an expression of the golden years of Viennese classicism.
At the conclusion of the event in front of the striking facade of the church, the Gruppo Campanari “i Campanatt” performed the ringing of bells in the Ambrosian system, with a concert of various types of musical material with scales and interludes typical of the Lombard tradition.
“We are happy to host the Christmas Concert in our abbey: it is an opportunity to share this moment of joy in preparation for the Advent of Holy Christmas, nourishing in all of us the feelings of peace and solidarity” said Father Stefano Zanolini, Abbot of the monastic community of Chiaravalle.
