news Terramadre: The Festival organized by Slow Food at Turin’s Dora Park

BIA participated in the 15th edition of Terramadre, the event organized by Slow Food, Piedmont Region and the City of Turin, held Sept. 26-30 at Turin’s Doria Park.

 

 

 

The event, titled “Being Nature”, focused on the balanced relationship between humans and nature, with special attention to biodiversity and the knowledge of local communities.

 

 

 

 

BIA participated in the Salone del Gusto with two talks:

 

Sunday 29/09  with the talk “Mediterranean: cooperating for food security for all”

The Mediterranean offers an extraordinary variety of food products that can be traded and shared among different countries to ensure greater diversification of supply sources and greater food security for all.International cooperation within the Mediterranean basin is therefore a critically important factor in ensuring food security and promoting greater environmental sustainability.

 

Speakers within the panel included Michela Favaro (deputy mayor of the City of Turin), Biagio Di Terlizzi, (deputy director of CIHEAM Bari), Anton Salman (mayor of Bethlehem), Giovanni Venegoni (managing director BIA srl), Italo Rizzi (strategic director LVIA).

The event was moderated by Raoul Tiraboschi (vice president of the Slow Food Italy Board of Directors).

 

Monday 30/09 with the talk : “Food districts, a national and international experience.”

Food districts identify local production systems with strong historical and territorial identities, whose work aims to enhance agricultural and agrifood production and the rural landscape.

The meeting focused on the need to integrate agricultural and environmental policies to ensure national and international food security and sustainability.

 

Speakers on the panel included: Paolo Balocco (director of agriculture and food directorate, Piedmont Region), Valeria Barchiesi (Value chains – Project Specialist, FAO), Mimma Vignoli (president BioDistretto Casalasco-Viadanese), Piermichele La Sala (coordinator scientific committee consulta dei distretti del cibo University of Foggia), Dott. Ignazio Garau (district Bioslow Bread and Oil National Network BIOSLOW), Massimo Fiorio (coordinator table on food of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital), Giovanni Venegoni (managing director, BIA srl.).

The event was moderated by Raoul Tiraboschi (vice president of the Slow Food Italy Board of Directors).
