projects Biella UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art

After Alba UNESCO Creative City for Gastronomy in 2017, BIA has successfully completed another application for the UNESCO Network where creativity is the driver of a new inclusive economy and sustainable development: Biella is UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Art.

Different cities and different creative fields, but also in the case of Biella, BIA took care of the entire application process: from its inception inspired by Biella’s mastery in the textile field, and in particular in the wool sector, to the drafting of the dossier as well as the planning of the communication strategy and the activation of synergies and international collaborations with cities already belonging to the network and much more.

For almost a year, BIA supported the project promoters, the Municipality and the strategic partners Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella and Fondazione Pistoletto Cittadellarte, met and actively worked to get the local authorities and local and international stakeholders involved, working in team and demonstrating in the field its ability to effectively develop creative networks and design projects in line with UNESCO requirements and the objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda.
Among these, the international cooperation project with the Republic of Namibia, created and supervised directly by BIA, based on collaborations and exchanges in various economic sectors and study and research fields between Biella and the city of Keetmanshoop, capital of the Karas region and centre of Karakul sheep breeding.
